Paul and Rachel Elliston

Hello everyone once again. We are back in Peru.

Our break away… was just what we needed. We flew to Brazil and spent a couple of days visiting the AMAZING waterfalls of Iguaçu on the borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. We were able to see them from both Brazil and Argentina, both presenting quite different views. We hope to share photos soon once we have sorted out our webpage problems.

We then spent just over 2 weeks in Asuncion, Paraguay. We stayed with Rachel’s friends who lent us a little cottage-type house next door to their family house. The weather, although cooler than in Dec and Jan was still HOT, reaching 36 degrees C on one day. This really made sure that we sat around doing nothing much for much of the time! It was a good opportunity to detoxify as we dripped and dripped and dripped.

But it wasn’t all holiday, we also had a chance to lead a few church meetings and counsel/pray with one of Rachel’s friends. This was encouraging as we physically saw God strip away some hurts from our friend’s life as we prayed. Thank God with us for this time of encouragement and the gift of friendship in that country – something we miss here in Peru.

Future plans… are still pretty vague but we think we have come up with a few options which we shall divulge once we have spoken to the relevant people involved. Please pray that we make the right decisions and that God will reveal his will to us.

Crisis in Chincha update… on our return to Peru we took advantage of last weekend to visit Chincha once again in order to continue supporting our friends A and M who are experiencing very, very difficult circumstances in their marriage. Thank you so much to all of you who have been praying for them and us as we counsel them. When Rachel was with them last month it looked very unlikely that A would stay with his wife and 4 children, in favour of going to be with another woman. However, having continued our contact with them during our holiday and also visiting last weekend, we seem to have made progress. It now seems more likely that he will stay with his wife. This is an extremely volatile situation which we are monitoring on an almost daily basis. We have also committed ourselves to regular contact via internet and regular counselling sessions over skype with the aim of re-building their marriage relationship and restore past hurts going as far back as early childhood. We very much value your continued prayers and support. Again, if anyone would like to pray particularly for this family, please let us know so we can pass on specific prayer requests.

Renewing visas… has been rather frustrating. We started a week ago and still haven’t got very far due to missing the right stamp on a couple of documents and the only lady who can give this stamp is out of the office until Thursday – Thursday being our last day to get steps 1 and 2 done out of 3. If we don’t do steps 1 and 2 by Thursday we may have to pay a fine. We then need to renew the actual visa before the 9th of April. Please pray for the right people to be in place in order to get this done ASAP.

Back to Huancayo… we had hoped to get back to Huancayo on Tuesday just gone, however this was impossible. We hope to be going back either this Thursday or Friday. Rach starts work again (in theory) on Monday! Paul should be back to start teaching this Friday but this will now not happen. Please pray for save travelling through the mountains. There are still rumours of landslides between Lima and Huancayo.

Thanks Everyone
